FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
Extinguishing media: Do not use water on the substance itself when the substance is not involved in fire. Use CO2, dry chemicals, and use water spray to knock down vapours
Protective clothing: Wear positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) Wear chemical protective clothing that is specially recommended by the manufacturing. Structural fire fighters’ protective clothing is recommended for fire situations ONLY and is not effective in spill situations
ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Clean up methods: Cover with DRY earth, DRY sand or other non-combustible material, followed by plastics sheet to minimize contact with rain. Use clean, non-sparking tools to collect material and place it in loosely covered plastic containers for later disposal. Prevent entry of the substance into waterways, sewers, basement or confined areas
Spillages or uncontrolled discharges into watercourses must be alerted to the appropriate regulatory body
HANDLING AND STORAGE
Handling: Ensure water is available and ready for use. Do not ingest. Avoid generating aerosols and mist. Do not breathe gas/fumes/vapour/spray. Use with adequate ventilation. In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment Avoid contact with skin and eyes
Storage: Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area. Keep containers tightly closed when not in use. Inspect regularly for deficiencies such as damage or leaks. Protect against physical damage. Store away from incompatible materials including oxidizing agents, acids, water, bases. Protect from direct sunlight, moisture and static discharges. Hygroscopic. Store at ambient temperature.
DISPOSAL CONSIDERATION
Methods of disposal: As a hazardous liquid waste it should be solidified with inert material such as sand or fly ash before disposal to licensed industrial landfill.
Disposal of packaging: Return to manufacturer. Do not reuse empty containers. Triple rinse into system, then puncture and dispose of in sanitary landfill, or if allowed by local authorities, by burning. If burned, stay away of smoke.
